Malaysia and Myanmar SEA Games in hockey

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia apply for three types of competitive sport in the South East Asian Games Myanmar at 11 until 22 December to-hockey, fencing and petanque-the meeting of the SEA Games Federation (SGF) in Nay Pyi Taw, 's Burmese 28 and 29 January.

The Honorary Secretary of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), Datuk Sieh Kok Chi said the selection of three sports that's not on the ground that the national squad have big win medals, but rather to instill among Southeast Asian countries, in addition to hockey and fencing is a sport contested at the Olympic Games.

"Only two or three sports at any time we can get competitive. So, we chose three types of the sport as hockey and fencing is a sport contested at the Olympics in Rio.

Spirit Of The SEA Games

"Petanque was selected as Malaysia in 2001 was the first proponent include the sport in the South East Asian Games as well as it is the event that all can be joined without the need for padang or stadium.

"Maybe we can win (three types of the sport), but it's more to the spirit of the SEA Games," he said.

The 27th Edition of the SEA Games is scheduled to take place in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and around Mandalay Beach Ngwe Saung for 12 days. This is the third time Myanmar hosted since 1961 and 1969.
For a record fourth position overall Malaysia won the SEA Games Indonesia 2011 with 180 medals.
